Make a Difference

Coaching with the Shredhawks is an incredibly rewarding experience. You'll help young riders develop skills, build confidence, and discover a lifelong love of mountain biking. Plus, you'll likely be a fitter, better rider by the end of the season!

No need for mad skills or coaching experience. If you can ride beginner-level trails, you can be a Shredhawks coach. Show up with a positive attitude, and we'll provide training and pair you with a veteran coach to show you the ropes.

What You'll Do

  • Build confidence through bike skills and fitness development
  • Teach goal-setting and deliberate practice
  • Foster team culture and help students find their niche in the sport
  • Create connections with families and fellow cycling enthusiasts
  • Get active on the trails while making a real difference

Getting Started is Easy

All NICA coaches start as Level 1 coaches. To get started, you'll complete approximately 4 hours of online training covering safety, concussion awareness, and coaching philosophy. We'll guide you through the whole process!

Level 1 Coach - Start Here!

Ride with the team in a supporting role and assist with practices. This is where all coaches begin, and it's a great way to make an impact while learning the ropes from veteran coaches.

Level 2 Coach (Optional)

After gaining experience, you can advance to become a ride leader and skills coach. Additional training includes CPR/First Aid certification.

Level 3 Coach (Optional)

Experienced coaches can pursue advanced certification to plan and lead team practices with additional wilderness first aid training.

Non-Coaching Volunteer

Not able to coach on the trails? We also need help with events, race support, team logistics, communications, and more!
